After the amazing first class

After the amazing first class, the expectations were quite high, the curiosity started taking over me. But here we were talking about Mr. Mandi, and as far as I knew he delivered the best out of him every day. In the 2nd class he entered with a cherubic smile, I was sure something exciting was on its way.
He started with some questions about building a single cube tower . Students started guessing a random number not knowing about the significance of that number. It was when Mr. Mandi asked to build the tower blind folded, every student started thinking about the significance of that number, now there was no blind guess J. Well if I don’t talk about the selection criteria for building the tower it would be a complete injustice from my side. It was a bidding process. The student placing highest bid for the first round was allowed to come to the stage. And now the fun began. He placed 22 cubes one upon another before they demolished. Every one clapped and it was time for our second bidding. Fortunately two of my colleagues and I were selected for this task. One was assigned the task of placing cubes, I was the manager guiding him since he was blind folded and the third was the CEO.

We started building the tower and there was a lot of applause from the audience because this time they knew that the task was not an easy one.  I started giving directions and my friend followed it nicely. Many a times it felt like the tower would no longer sustain but with our mutual cooperation, we cross every hurdle. My blind folded friend followed every instruction which I gave him and we succeeded, followed by lots of applause and cheers.

Then it was time for the management lesson we learn from it. Mr. Mundi started explaining the difference between the Modern organizational structure and the old organizational structure or craftsmanship. He related the open eyed person with the old organizational structure because he can take decisions and the blind folded person with the modern organizational structure because his ability to take decision was hindered. In modern organizational structure only the top management takes all the decision and the employees have to follow it blindly. He also iterated the increase or decrease in the magnitude of work, skill, satisfaction and time for both the organizational structure.

Now the lesson was cemented in our minds. Thank you Mr. Mundi for this fun filled and knowledgeable class!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
